Myriam, a lawyer, decides to return to work after having children and search for the perfect Nanny to care for their child and son. They never imagined that Louise would become their Nanny. She is a quiet, polite and devoted woman who sings to the kids, cleans the family’s Paris apartment, and hosts enviable child-friendly parties. The idyllic scene is shattered when the Nanny and the couple become more dependent on each other. Jealousy, resentment and suspicions build up, as well as jealousy and resentment. The Perfect Nanny, which builds tension with each sentence, is an intense, compulsive exploration of power and class via Why Not Productions with Philippe Godeau for Pan-Europeenne. Erskine is executive producing with Pascal Caucheteux via Why Not Productions, with Philippe Godeau for Pan-Europeenne.
The Perfect Nanny took inspiration from the 2012 Krim children murder, initially published by Gallimard in France in 2016. The story explores disturbing instances of jealousy, betrayal, and is a cautionary tale about dependence, blind trust, murder, and suicide. The book received France’s highest literary honor, the Prix Goncourt.Child care comes with myriad challenges. I can’t imagine the terror parents must feel when they have to leave their children in someone else’s hands.
The Perfect Nannyis a riveting drama that explores fear of making bad judgments and watching your family crumble. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare. Kidman and Erskine will make sure you feel every awkward and frightening moment.
